From Dec. 7 to Dec.11, at the IEEE GLOBECOM 2020 held in Taipei China, the paper by Xiaoling Hu An Angle Domain Design Framework for Intelligent Reflecting Surface Systems (Supervisor: Prof. Caijun Zhong) won the Best Paper Award. This is the second time that Xiaoling Hu has won the best paper award at the flagship conference in the field of communication.
IEEE GLOBECOM is one of the two flagship conferences in the communication industry. It is held regularly in mid-December each year. The conference selected 15 best papers based among 3000+ submissions, and the award rate was only five out of 1,000.
This paper proposes a novel channel estimation and beam design scheme based on angle information for the wireless communication system assisted by the smart reflector, which solves the problem of high cost and high complexity of the smart reflector in the practical application of channel estimation. Since the angle information changes slowly, the channel estimation scheme has the advantages of low estimation complexity. And the novel beam design scheme proposed by this paper not only reduces the complexity of the algorithm, but also guarantees the performance of the system.
